Am I Still A Safe Driver?

Cone

Although many people have an excellent driving record, when we develop medical conditions things can sometimes change. It is much better to know that we are still safe than to wait until an accident or tragedy occurs to find out.

Ask a trusted family member or close friend to go for a drive with you and give you feedback on your performance. You might also like to reflect upon your recent driving experiences then respond to the following statements honestly:

I have a chronic medical condition that may affect my driving skills

I sometimes get lost whilst driving

I feel stressed whilst driving

Other drivers honk their horn at me

I find parking more difficult lately

I find driving exhausting

Busy intersections bother me

Right turns cause me to be nervous

I don't feel confident driving after dark

My family & friends express concern about my driving

I have recently been stopped by police due to my driving

Other cars seem to appear out of nowhere at times

It seems other road users drive too fast

People don't accept rides with me anymore

I am bothered by the glare from on coming headlights

I have difficulty seeing signs early enough to be able to repsond to them

Lately I have had more "near misses"

My medications cause dizziness or drowsiness

I have difficulty turning the steering wheel or using the accelerator & brake

I have trouble turning to look over my shoulder when I reverse

If you answered "yes" to any of the above statements your

safety may be at risk when you drive.

For peace of mind, talk to your doctor about your concerns &

request a referral for a driving assessment
